This discussion meeting is a chance for parents to share some of the homeschool requirements and learning goals they’re working toward so we can explore ways to build those into our farm activities. We’ll brainstorm together about how visits to the farm can support subjects like science, nature, agriculture, math, and more—while giving students opportunities to receive credit for hands-on learning. Most importantly, we’d love your ideas and feedback as we continue growing and improving our homeschool program!

AUG 19
Join us for a guided woodland adventure at Floating Lotus Farmstead! Together we'll explore our forest trails as young nature detectives, learning to identify native trees, plants, fungi, and other natural treasures found right here in Southern Maryland. Along the way, children will discover how to recognize different species, learn about their roles in the forest ecosystem, sharpen their observation skills, and complete a fun nature scavenger hunt. After the guided portion of the visit, your group is welcome to enjoy the farm for the remainder of your reserved time. Explore our woodland trails, enjoy lunch in nature, or continue your homeschool lessons in our peaceful outdoor learning spaces. It's the perfect opportunity to combine education, exploration, and fun while making lasting memories on the farm.
Homeschool Farm Days
Bring learning to life with a visit to Floating Lotus Farmstead! Our homeschool visits include a guided tour of the farm and a hands-on agricultural experience for children. Depending on the season, students may harvest a vegetable to take home, enjoy a fresh farm snack, plant a seed, or participate in another interactive farm activity.
Homeschool Visit Fee: $5-$10 per child depending on the activity - (adults & infants are free)
This small fee helps support educational programming on the farm and future improvements to our homeschool learning spaces.
After the tour, families and homeschool groups are welcome to use our property as an outdoor classroom and continue their lessons in nature. Explore our woodland trails, enjoy some stream play, or gather in our grassy open space nestled among the trees for group activities, reading, nature study, or free exploration.
Students will also have the opportunity to learn about our farm animals, including our sheep and cows. During certain times of the year, we will be able to arrange special educational experiences featuring newborn lambs or calves.

All proceeds from homeschool visits will go toward the construction of a pavilion barn in our woodland field, creating a dedicated space for educational programs, community events, and future homeschool activities.
